START WITH LISTENING
The real story is usually beneath the obvious one.
You don’t need to arrive with the story already figured out. Most people know there’s something deeper in the work they do. They just don’t always know how to explain it.
I listen, ask questions and spend time with the people inside the story until the real centre begins to emerge. Then I shape the words, images, sound and music around what we find. Every choice has a reason.
Less gloss. More meaning.

Stories Worth Telling
More than a sport. A place to belong.
An emotional film about commitment, community and the relationships that hold a synchronized skating team together.
Excellence is built together.

Travel should change the way we see the world.

The Story Comes Before the Shoot
You don’t need to arrive with a finished script, concept or shot list. Discovering what the story really is, and deciding how it should feel, is part of the work we do together.
01
LISTEN
Understand the people, the purpose and what sits underneath the work.
02
FIND THE STORY
Look beneath the obvious version for the human truth others might miss.
03
SHAPE THE VISION
Decide what combination of words, images, voice, sound and music the story needs.
04
MAKE IT FELT
Bring every choice together into something people genuinely connect with.
TASTE IS PART OF THE CRAFT
The right piece of music can completely change the meaning of a scene. So can a photograph, a single line of narration, a carefully placed sound, or the decision to leave something out.
I bring film, photography, writing, voice, sound design and original music into one creative process. Not because every story needs everything, but because the story should never be limited by the tools available.
Taste is knowing what belongs.

ABOUT SHAWN
The story starts with the people, not the production.
My path has moved through music, television, education and filmmaking, but the common thread has always been people. I listen closely, ask a lot of questions and look for the meaning beneath the obvious version of the story.
Red Door Media is intentionally small. When you work with me, you’re working directly with the person who sees the story taking shape, then carries that vision through the words, images, voice, music and final film. The person who first listened is still protecting the story at the end.
Created with people who care deeply about what they do.
Different fields. Different stories. A shared belief that the work should mean something.
